EXPERIENCE LIFE BALANCE WITH LOMAKATSI, PLLC

Life can be overwhelming and exhausting, but I’m here to assist you in achieving the ability to live life in balance.

This is achieved through specialized treatment modalities known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment modality. EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.

Another specialized treatment modality is Prolonged Exposure (PE). PE is based in Emotional Processing Theory, which posits that PTSD symptoms arise as a result of cognitive and behavioral avoidance of trauma-related thoughts, reminders, activities and situations. PE helps the individual  interrupt and reverse this process by blocking cognitive and behavioral avoidance, introducing corrective information, and facilitating organization and processing of the trauma memory and associated thoughts and beliefs. This is accomplished through in vivo and imaginal exposure.

EMDR and PE are recognized as effective treatment modalities to treat trauma and other mental health difficulties by some pretty reputable organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, Veterans Health Administration (VA) and Department of Defense (DOD).

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I reside with my family in Cedar Point.  My family consists of my spouse who was medically retired after 14 years of service and has served in combat deployments.  Our two young children, three Great Danes, one small mixed dog and our cat.
I have earned a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Hilbert College located in NY, a Masters degree in Social Work from California State University Long Beach and a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from Alliant International University located in CA.
Additionally, I am a certified EMDR therapist through EMDRIA.  EMDRIA is a professional association for EMDR practitioners and researchers to seek the highest standards for clinical use of EMDR. Lastly, I have been trained in Prolonged Exposure therapy by The Center for Deployment Psychology.
I have worked in an array of treatment settings such as crisis emergency services with University of North Carolina. Most recently, for over the past eight years I have been a contract psychologist with Department of Defense (DOD).
I have a passion working with our active duty service members and veterans for an array of reasons.  Even with my years of experience, I am able to relate and understand on a deeper level because of my personal experiences as a military spouse.
My family and I have been on the receiving end of amazing as well as subpar care.  This is one of the main reasons why I am dedicated to only giving the most competent and effective psychological services.
